I have several friends that practice Falconry. (my housemate does as well, although we do not currently have a bird). Fascinating sport that has been around for hundreds of years. Think Cheetahs are fast? They got nothing on a falcon in a stoop (dive). Up to 200 MPH.
A short video of some cool hunting with a falcon. (totally different style from a Hawk, which many hunt with, too). More on that in a different post. Just keepin' Oppo Different).

One must find a "Master" to apprentice with and obtain the proper permits from the Wildlife Service. There are a few falconry schools you can attend. After a period of about 2 years, you can become a "General" and after that you can become a "Master".
You are limited to having hawks when an apprentice and after that you may have Falcons. You will learn so many things as an apprentice, your head will spin. It is a carefully controlled sport so you must be ready to dedicate some serious time to it.
